Post Operative Instructions For Dentures

Post- operative instructions for dentures- Once your dentures are completed, it is necessary to follow care instructions for proper care of gum tissue and for the prolonged success of new prosthesis. It may take few days for the denture to settle onto the tissues of mouth. Those who are wearing dentures for the first time may take a longer period of time for adjustment, generally few weeks, before adapting to their new denture.

It may feel bulky in the mouth, tongue may feel crowded and amount of saliva can be increased but this will subside after sometime. Initially try to wear dentures for long periods of time, have soft foods and chew food in small bites.

After sometime you may add more solid food to your diet. If your denture tips while biting, place food on both sides of mouth to stabilize the denture while biting. If food gets stuck in between the denture, simply rinse with water. Talking with denture may seem difficult at first.
